A Highland Perthshire Escape: The Hermitage, Dunkeld & Blair Atholl Castle

£65.00

Step away from the rush of the everyday and join Wanderlust Tours for a soul-soothing journey into the heart of Highland Perthshire. This is no ordinary day trip; it's an invitation to slow down, breathe deeply, and truly immerse yourself in the timeless beauty and epic history of Scotland. Our relaxed-pace tour is designed to give you the freedom to wander, explore, and connect with three of the region's most enchanting locations.

Our adventure begins at The Hermitage, a magical woodland playground designed in the 18th century for the Dukes of Atholl. Here, you'll stroll beneath some of Britain's tallest trees, following the path of the River Braan. Feel the spray from the thundering Black Linn Falls as you stand inside Ossian's Hall, a stunning Georgian folly built to showcase the waterfall's dramatic power. We give you ample time to meander along the forest trails, listen to the birdsong, and simply be present in this fairy-tale landscape.

Next, we'll visit the charming and historic town of Dunkeld. Once the ecclesiastical capital of Scotland, its story is written in the stones of its magnificent, partly-ruined cathedral that rests peacefully on the banks of the River Tay. You'll have the freedom to explore the colourful, restored 18th-century houses of the National Trust village, browse the unique independent shops, or perhaps find a quiet spot for a coffee and soak in the tranquil atmosphere.

The grand finale of our day is the majestic Blair Atholl Castle. With a history stretching back over 700 years, this iconic, whitewashed fortress is the ancient seat of the Dukes of Atholl and home to Europe’s last remaining private army, the Atholl Highlanders. You'll have plenty of time to discover the castle's fascinating rooms, filled with treasures and tales from generations past, before getting lost in the beauty of its vast grounds. Whether you choose to explore the peaceful Hercules Garden or simply admire the view of the surrounding hills, the choice is yours.

This tour is crafted for those who prefer discovery over deadlines. Hop aboard our comfortable minibus and let us guide you on a day of history, nature, and pure Highland magic.
